LEARN AND EARN: Advanced training and stipends of up to $25,000 distinguish the new Journalism Fellowships in Child and Family Policy. The University of Maryland College of Journalism program aims to enhance journalists' -- and the public's -- understanding of how social issues, policy and practice connect. During weeklong trips to the D.C. area, fellows will attend briefings with policy experts, make field visits and hone journalism skills. These competitive, nonresidential fellowships range from one week to six months. Apply by March 31 for fellowships beginning mid-September 2001. See www.child-family.umd.edu or contact director Carol Guensburg at 301/405-7200 or cguensburg@jmail.umd.edu.
